Portable cord and plug connected equipment is very common in workplaces, due to the convenience of being able to move such equipment around easily, and the ease of connecting it to the power infrastructure.
During Lockout/Tagout, it is important to isolate electrical energy sources using a power plug connected into a socket to comply with OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.147. This is typically done by removing the ability to insert the plug into the electrical socket using a box-type plug Lockout device.
