Electrical Lockout Devices

Electrical energy is the most prominent form of energy found in workplaces and it can be very dangerous. Performing service or maintenance on equipment that contains electrical energy potentially exposes workers to shock hazard and/or arc flash hazard. Because of these risks, it is critical to put equipment in a zero-energy state prior to beginning work, which requires releasing any residual electrical energy that may be stored in components such as capacitors.

Isolating electrical energy during Lockout/Tagout in compliance with OSHA's 29 CFR 1910.147 can be challenging due to the variety of components that can provide the necessary isolation.
